Spinning gear checklist
A spin angler walks rather than sits, so the list is short and everything is on you: lures for today's predators, leaders against pike teeth, pliers and glasses to see fish under the surface.

Check the forecast for your water
The day list is built from weather, ice and the fish that bite. Open your water's forecast — the “What to bring” card is there.

How many lures?
Ten for the day's conditions, not the whole collection: two crankbaits, three soft plastics on jigs, a spinner, a spoon. The Lures block on the forecast page says which.
Do I need a leader?
For pike — wire or heavy fluorocarbon, always. For perch and walleye — fluorocarbon so as not to spook them.
Why polarised glasses?
They cut glare: you see fish, bottom, drop-offs and snags. Without them half the water is invisible.
