Река Еруслан протянулась почти на 122 километра в Волгоградской области и впадает в Волгоградское водохранилище, являясь частью обширного бассейна Волги. Близко к её берегам расположена Старая Полтавка — всего в семистах метрах, что удобно для выезда на рыбалку с минимальными хлопотами. Масштаб реки позволяет найти как уединённые места, так и участки поинтереснее, если хочется разнообразия.
На Еруслане водится множество видов рыбы, среди которых жерех, язь и щука — классические хищники, которые держатся в более глубоких или затенённых зонах. Плотва, уклейка и ёрш добавляют разнообразия мелкотравчатым рыбам, а сом и налим предпочитают более спокойные участки.
