Река Нельша протянулась на 102,6 километра в Костромской области и впадает в реку Нею, которая входит в большой бассейн Волги. Рядом с Нельшей находится город Нея всего в трёх километрах, что делает рыбалку здесь довольно удобной для тех, кто не любит далеко уезжать от цивилизации. Эта река интересна своей протяжённостью и местами, где можно отыскать разные виды рыбы, привычные для водоёмов Верхней Волги.
На Нельше ловятся как мирные виды — плотва, уклейка, ерш и язь, так и хищники: щука, жерех, сом и налим. Рыбалка разнообразная: от мелких стай уклейки до вываживания хищника.
